Microblading

ABOUT MICROBLADING

Microblading is a hand-based eyebrow tattooing technique using a hand-held pen and a very fine needle containing multiple little micro-blades to create ultra fine, realistic looking tattooed hair strokes within the eyebrows. During the procedure, a suitably chosen pigment color (which is TGA approved) is implanted beneath the shallow part of the skin, creating the illusion of added density and natural hair within the areas that would most benefit.

Microblading is suitable for clients with sparse eyebrows, spot hairloss, complete hairloss, or those with very thin eyebrow hairs that are barely visible. It is also highly recommended for clients who experience Alopecia, Trichotillomania, autoimmune diseases and those who have or will be undergoing Chemotherapy treatments.

Microblading is the perfect option for those who desire a subtle, natural result. It is a 2 step treatment which inclues the initial treatment, and a complimentary perfecting session between 6-8 weeks later. Eye Art Studio also offers Mens Microblading to male clients, please click here for further information on this service.

FAQ / MICROBLADING

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo procedure for the eyebrows. Microblading uses a hand tool to create tiny and natural looking tattooed hair within the eyebrows. Due to the way microblading results look, it is considered the most natural looking method of eyebrow tattoo.

HOW IS MICROBLADING DIFFERENT FROM TRADITIONAL EYEBROW TATTOOING?

Traditional eyebrow tattooing uses a tattoo machine to fill in a pre-drawn eyebrow shape, resulting in a solid and powdery finish. Microblading uses a hand based pen-like tool and a tiny blade to create multiple realistic looking tattooed hairstrokes that blend in with natural brow hair. For this reason, microblading delivers a more natural finish over the traditional eyebrow tattooing method.

IS MICROBLADING PAINFUL?

Microblading is reported to have a pain scale rating of 0-3 out off 10, depepent on your pain threshold. A topical anaesthetics may be applied before and during microblading to ensure your comfort. Some may find the procedure to carry a slight discomfort, while others are relaxed enough to fall asleep during microblading.

WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS FOR MICROBLADING?

Day 1-3 post microblading, the eyebrows may look too thick or dark, this will subside. Day 3-14, slight scabbing may form and the new brows may look very faded or completely disappear. Day 14-4 weeks, the new brows will progessively return and settle to their healed result at the fourth week post procedure.

WHAT ARE THE AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR MICROBLADING

On day of procedure, pat the eyebrows firmly with a dry, clean tissue every hour until bed time. Avoid strenous, sweat inducing, direct sun exposure, spa, hot showers. Do not pick or pull scabs if they form, let them fall naturally. A rice grain size of Bepanthan may be used if the eyebrows become too irritated and itchy. Do not use any active, AHA or Retinoid on or around the areas.

HOW LONG WILL MICROBLADING LAST?

You may enjoy the results of microblading for a long time, with regular yearly or bi-annually maintenance sessions. If you have oily skin, are more active and have more exposure to direct sunlight, you may require a maintenance session sooner than someone with dry skin, who are less active with little to no sun exposure.

WILL MICROBLADING SUIT ME?

Microblading may be suitable for you if you would like to improve your eyebrows density, fullness and overall aesthetics while still looking natural. A design and sketch may be pre-drawn prior to tattooing to ensure the new brows will compliment your facial features and personal preferences.

WHAT ARE SOME SIDE AFFECTS OF MICROBLADING?

Immediately after the procedure, you may experience some temporary slight swellling, tenderness or redness around the eyebrows. Gentle icing on the treated areas will relieve discomfort and ease symptoms.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF MICROBLADING?

The potential risks associated with microblading may be: bacterial infection, poor hygiene practice, BBP risks, and the end results. If you consider microblading, it is recommended to research your Artist and studio's registration with local governing bodies to ensure health and safey legislation are followed. Reviewing the Artist's portfolio of work and Google reviews offer peace of mind on the expected end results.

WHO SHOULD NOT GET MICROBLADING?

Microblading is not recommended if you are prone to keloid scarring, taking certain medication such as Roaccutane or blood thinners or if you are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Microblading is also not recommended if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18 years of age under Australian laws.

DOES MICROBLADING LOOK NATURAL?

Microblading delivers the most natural looking eyebrow tattoo results, as little hairstrokes are tattooed directly into the eyebrow areas. For this reason, others may not even notice that you have the procedure done.

DOES MICROBLADING LOOK GOOD ON OLDER WOMEN?

Microblading can look good on older women, providing that you don't have major skin issues such as rosacea, or vascular skin, or very thin and sensitive skin.

HOW MUCH DOES MICROBLADING COST?

Microblading can vary in cost, this is a reflection of the studio or Artist's level of skill, experience, and training investment. A typical price guide for microblading with a reputable Artist in Australia is around the $900-$1,200 guide. Microblading is not a tangible product, and therefore the Artist or studio's portfolio of work should be the main factor in selecting your Artist.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MICROBLADING TREATMENT?

At your microlading session, the Artist may consult with you on your desired brow goals. Numbing with a topical anaesthetics will take place. A brow design, mapping and sketching with then be pre-drawn for your approval. Following this, the tattooing process will complete the procedure.

WHAT DOES MICROBLADING LOOK LIKE LONG TERM?

Microblading will progressively fade over time, essentially a faded version of when they are freshly done. An annual or bi-annual maintenance session is recommended to keep your microblading color and shape fresh and sharp.
